BETA

Dashh: Voidfall

Two worlds, two ways to play: outlast the waves, or take the adventure one map at a time.

Heads up: this is a 3D game and it will work your phone. Fullscreen is the way to play it.

About

Early beta. Controls are below if you want them.

A third person survival arena built from scratch in WebGL2. No engine, no libraries, no textures — every tree, monster and building is generated by code when the page loads.

Pick one of two worlds. Vildheim is wilderness: forests, lakes and a day/night cycle, where you fight with a sword and a fireball. Three swings in a row land a finisher. Neotropolis is a neon city in permanent night, where you fly between the towers as a cyborg and burn things with lasers from your palms. The city has its own machines — drone swarms that dive from above, snipers that perch on rooftops and paint you with a red line before they shoot, and shielded hover platforms you have to flank.

There are two ways to play. Survival is the arena: waves without end, an upgrade every level, a boss every fifth wave, and the only question is how far you get. Adventure deals you a fresh map every level with a mission on it — collect the guarded power cores, hold a reactor while it charges, hunt down a named elite, or escort a hovering loader across the map. Monsters drop gold, a shop between levels spends it, armour pieces stack up with no cap, and every tenth level is a checkpoint so death sends you back there instead of to the start. Every third level is a boss fight against something the waves never see: a stone giant that lobs boulders in Vildheim, a blinking machine eye in Neotropolis, both getting meaner as their health drops.

This is a beta and it is still being worked on. Bugs and rough edges are expected.

It runs on a phone with touch controls, but it is a real 3D engine — an older phone will feel it, and fullscreen is much better than the little window.

Controls

  • On a phone: left half of the screen is a stick, drag the right half to look. Buttons for attack, dash, jump, fireball and parry sit bottom right.
  • W A S D move. The camera decides which way is forward.
  • Move the mouse to aim. The crosshair follows the pointer; push it to the edge of the screen to sweep the view around.
  • Click the game once for mouse lock, and it turns into normal shooter aiming.
  • Left click attacks: a sword in Vildheim, hand lasers in Neotropolis.
  • Right click parries in Vildheim. Time it against an incoming shot and it flies back at whoever fired it, twice as hard. A miss still spends the cooldown.
  • C throws a fireball in Vildheim. Ten second cooldown.
  • Shift dashes. You are invulnerable during it.
  • Space jumps. In Neotropolis, hold it to fly.
  • Esc pauses. On level up, 1 2 3 mark an upgrade and enter takes it — two steps, so a stray click mid-fight cannot choose for you.
