Keyboard Dojo

Learn where the keys are and stop looking down at your hands.

About

Ten drills that start on the eight keys under your fingers and end with full sentences.

Every run is rolled fresh, so nothing here can be memorised in place of the layout. Your hands stay on the home row: F and J carry the two little bumps that tell you where you are without looking, and the drawn keyboard marks them the same way.

The screen shows the next key in red and the finger that should travel to it. Look at that, never at your hands. It feels slower for about a week and then it is simply faster forever.

Words per minute is counted the standard way — five correct characters make a word — and only correct characters count. Accuracy under 90% means the speed was borrowed rather than earned, so the drill will say so. The score you post is your net WPM.

Switch between the Swedish and US layouts under the keyboard; the drills follow, and the Nordic keys only appear when the layout actually has them.

Controls

  • Just type. The clock starts on your first letter and stops on the last.
  • The red key is the next one, and the red finger is the one that owes it.
  • Backspace fixes the character behind you. Esc drops back to the drill list.
  • Hide keys blanks the drawn keyboard once you no longer need it.
  • Stop on error refuses to move on until you have typed the right key.
